Slagharen is situated in the fertile valley of the Vecht in the north-east of the province of Overijssel. There are hundreds of kilometres of walking and bike trails for you to enjoy, as well as the scenery, the culture and the history of these magnificent surroundings. Using Slagharen as a base, there is a great deal to explore. For example, an excursion to Hardenberg or Ommen. Go shopping in the centre of Hardenberg, make a canoe trip along the Vecht in the direction of Ommen or take a walk on forestry commission land.
The picturesque small town of Gramsbergen has many beautifully restored houses, authentic alleyways and an old town gate. If you’re looking for a cool spot on a hot summer’s day, why not go to De Oldemeijer water park at Hardenberg. Here there is a beach which surrounds a lake with an island in the centre linked by a footbridge, but which is also within swimming distance.
There’s always something to do in the Vecht valley. Don’t forget to ask at reception for information on crafts markets and other events.
